Badminton School Science Outreach
Badminton School Science Outreach aims to redress the gender imbalance in the physical sciences and promote that the importance of girls' roles in STEM is as important as it is exciting. They have been a regular presence at Einstein’s Garden for the past four years, bringing projects that celebrate strong, positive role models of young female scientists engaged in exciting practical work to engage the festival’s diverse family audience; encouraging the uptake of STEM subjects within the community by building positive science-based experiences. They provide girls who wish to study science beyond A Level with a set of unique experiences they can use to support applications to higher education courses.
“Bringing Badminton School Science Outreach to Green Man has been an exceptional opportunity for our students to share their passion and knowledge of science. They particularly enjoy being part of the wider scientific community present in Einstein’s Garden and the joy they take in leading these workshops in front of the Green Man audience is heartwarming. It’s been inspiring to see them engage with the attending children and young people who leave inspired with a new sense of discovery. Students always find time between workshops to enjoy all that this fabulous music festival offers which is a bonus!” - Helen Pascoe, Bristol Education Partnership Lead Teacher, Head of Chemistry
